My Favorite Art from 2024

As the year comes to a close, I love looking back at the art I’ve created and highlighting my favorite pieces.

This year, my top picks include portfolio illustrations, sketchbook work, and a few designs I’m preparing to feature in my soon-to-launch online shop.

I’m excited to share them with you—enjoy!

Favorite Portfolio Pieces

Here are a few of my children’s book illustrations that stood out to me this year.

These were created specifically for my portfolio to capture the attention of agents and publishers.

Girl eating dinner at her ghost friend's house. She looks skeptical at the plate of fish bones and charcoal in front of her. Her ghost friend looks concerned.

This dinner scene was inspired by Halloween and is brimming with all the fun, spooky vibes of the season!

An older piece I redid this year. I even wrote a blog post about the process.

Another reworked image that ended up becoming one of my favorites from the year.

Favorite Sketchbook Pieces

I had a few favorites from my sketchbook too this year! Some are studies, others are finished pieces.

I adore this landscape I created- I’d love to make more of these in the new year.

I painted these trees one afternoon while waiting for my daughter’s school to let out. I ended up capturing some interesting leaf shapes that I want to use in future work.

I created these chickens from one of my plein-air sessions this year.

Favorite (Future) Shop Pieces

After taking a break from my online shop when my second child was born, I’ve been dreaming of reopening it—and now feels like the perfect time!

I’m getting ready to relaunch my shop, featuring some of my favorite creations as stickers, cards, and prints!

Here’s a little sneak peek:

Some fun fall foliage (and colors). I’m planning to turn this into a sticker—and maybe even a small print.

I see so much potential in this collection of woodland-inspired illustrations! They’d be perfect as stickers, tiny prints, or charming card sets.

These animals driving cars were originally created for my portfolio, but I think they’d be great prints for kids’ rooms.

Looking Ahead

I’m excited to create small batches of prints, stickers, and other products featuring these favorites (and more!). If you’d like to know when my shop officially reopens, follow me on Instagram or subscribe to my newsletter for updates.

Wishing you a Happy New Year!
Natalie
